Scottish indie-pop rockers Astrid are back with a brand new album after a 14-year hiatus, Fall, Stand, Dance, to be released April 12th on Edwyn Collins’ AED Records, and have released a first single “Poison Reaction” prior to its official release on February 22nd. Led by songwriters Willie Campbell and Charlie Clark, Fall, Stand, Dance was recorded in Los Angeles, where Clark now resides, produced by Eric McCann (The New Amsterdams) and mixed by long time Astrid collaborator Tony Doogan (Belle and Sebastian/Mogwai/Delgados).
During their initial run, Astrid released nine singles, three albums and three EPs, including their acclaimed debut, Strange Weather Lately, produced by the Scottish legend, Edwyn Collins. Released in 1999, the record was a critical and moderately commercial success, garnering support at BBC Radio from the likes of John Peel, Steve Lamaq, along with tours supporting Belle & Sebastian, The Go-Betweens, Ben Lee, Sean Lennon, Lou Barlow and The Pernice Brothers.
Campbell and Clark were also core members of Scottish Indie supergroup. The Reindeer Section, which featured members of Snow Patrol, The Vaselines, Teenage Fanclub, Arab Strap and Mogwai.
Astrid will take to the road in the UK prior to the release of Fall, Stand, Dance kicking things off with a Quay Sessions TV performance on BBC Scotland, February 13. Dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
