“Tapeworm” is an album about being a human in the 21st century. The songs touch on many different topics such as climate change, capitalism, nostalgia and the echo chamber in which the internet allows us to exist, though the overarching theme of the record is the anxiety of living in our current political and social climate. The album takes a conscious step away from previous releases which relied heavily on fuzzed out overdubbed guitars and reverb and delay drenched vocals. “Tapeworm” instead focuses on capturing a very natural, barebones depiction of the music, relying more on dynamics and room sound to create a spacious atmosphere rather than effects units. Tapeworm was recorded over the course of a weekend with Justin Pizzoferrato (Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, Speedy Ortiz) at Sonelab Studios, and mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering.
