LA Based Artist COQUÍ Shares His New Single/Video "Rewind"

LA musician Samuel Jacob Lopez, Jr has just released the debut single/video, “Rewind”, for his new project, COQUÍ. The multi-instrumentalist has worked with Crystal Castles, RAC, Young the Giant, and toured with Walk the Moon, and 30 Seconds to Mars.

Well known amongst artists, COQUÍ's sound flirt with nostalgia and innovative production. Growing up with a father who was a club DJ from Brooklyn and a mother who was a Puerto Rican salsa dancer from Philadelphia, he seamlessly melds his Latino influences in an alternative rock soundscape.

He describes his debut single as “a lullaby,” and you’ll hear the delicate balance of vulnerability and strength in his voice.

COQUÍ writes about the song:

“This song was inspired the passing of my abuela last year. At the time, I was over 5,000 miles away on tour in Europe. I decided to write a song about my family as a lullaby to help ease the pain. The first line I wrote was "When the weight of the world seems to pull you behind, just stop take a breath and rewind." These were actually the words of my late grandmother. I wrote this song a few weeks before she passed away so it holds a very special place in my heart.”
