Moon Panda Unveil an Eerie, Cinematic World in New Video for "Gun"

Led by frontwoman Maddy Myers (hailing from California) and guitarist Gustav Moltke (from Denmark), Moon Panda's hypnotic, dreamy soundscapes might bring artists like Beach House, Warpaint, and London Grammar to mind, but films are arguably their greatest muse. Specifically, documentaries on space, animals, swimming in the sea, and giant trees are must-sees in the Moon Panda camp along with a healthy dose of surreal horror programming.

As such, "Gun" visually cross-references The Haunting of Hill House, Get Out, Twin Peaks, and The Shining, serving as a haunting companion to a single that deals with maintaining a stable relationship with one’s self and “the ever-changing, sometimes irrational mind,” according to Myers.

Of the song, the band writes:

We chose to call the song "Gun" as a comparison to the human mind. We have the line, “load your gun/you don’t have to use it but the damage is done,” meaning that poor intention like a bullet in a gun."

"The song was actually written during the time London and Manchester went through all of the terror attacks. We were living in London at the time and I just felt so confused and hurt. It’s so hard to imagine what causes a person to do such terrible things. The human mind is so complex, beautiful, but also easily corruptible."
