Hailing from Linwood, NJ comes an emotionally charged singer-songwriter, Alexandros Doukopoulos who goes under the moniker, Aleko for short. With similarities to City & Colour, Bon Iver, and Hozier, Aleko offers a unique blend of Indie, with a cut of Americana and an R&B and Pop flair to create a modulated singing style and soothing instrumentation. At just 23 years old, his inspiration comes from various different aspects of his life like heartbreak, love, joy, and even despair - but Aleko finds a way to express himself through playing music like no other. Influenced by modern classics such as Justin Timberlake, John Legend, Dallas Green and John Mayer among others, Aleko hones his musical skills to create a unique musical experience and brings his insight to the world, without missing a beat.
Picking up the guitar at the age of 8, Aleko found his musical niche early in life. His intense interest in music had driven him to construct melodies and chords on the piano, and dabble in other instruments such as the mandolin and ukulele; even trying his hand at Opera. "I don't want anything to ever sound forced. I've found that bringing a soulful sound out of my music is by simply letting it happen rather than 'attempting'," says Aleko.
In 2015, Aleko debuted with Amity an EP, recorded at Gradwell House Recording with Dave Downham and Matt Weber featuring tracks, "Why Am I" and "Let You Down, and "Hold On Me" which premiered exclusively on Huffington Post.Today Aleko is gearing up for a slew of new music releases before the end of 2016.
