Laura Lamn is a UK based multi-faceted creative/musician/artist known predominantly as a wordsmith, rapper and song-writer. Her unique musical story started after performing her first bars at a hip hop night in San Francisco whilst on a road trip around America. She was instantly bitten by the rap bug and knew then there was no turning back.
When back in London a chance meeting on a train with her favourite producer Mr Hudson was the catalyst for the burgeoning artist to start making moves in music. He told her to move to London if she wanted to get serious - so she did. It wasn’t long before she had her first mixtape in the can, produced by Steven Weston (Ladyhawke, Mikky Ekko), it was championed by BBC Radio 1 introducing and BBC 6 Music, setting things up nicely for what was to come.
2017 seems set to be a breakthrough year for the Kent native, after a collaboration between her and EDM heavyweight Kaskade exploded online after dropping it to celebrate International Womens Day. Their take on Chaka Khan’s classic ‘I’m Every Woman’, co produced by S2_COOL gained support from across the EDM community including Billboard, Dancing Astronaut, Your EDM, Earmilk, This Song Is Sick and much more. The track shows off Laura’s playful approach to wordplay, the perfect foil to the laid 80s electro funk/house groove.
‘Woman’ followed her solo party-house offering ‘Move It Like You Mean It’, a track which further showcases her flair for writing personal and engaging, hook based singles. This went on to gain further radio support from BBC Introducing, Radio 1 and 6 Music. Interestingly, music videos for both tracks feature the hula hoop crew Marawa's Majorettes. As a Guinness World Record holder and professional Hula Hooper, Laura likes to bring this (and other passions such as wild swimming, roller skating and art) into her music videos.
