GET TO KNOW: Alice Limoges

Alice Limoges music

Originally from the coast of Maine, Alice Limoges is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has been performing across NYC and the Northeast for three years. In December, she released her self-produced album, The Space Between, which music blogger, Wee Claire, dubbed “wonderfully wistful and delightfully dreamy”. Her current lineup features Carey Ozmun on trumpet, Sean Power on bass, and Francesco Catricala on drums, although she also  frequently plays as a more low-key duo with Ozmun. They all met studying music at SUNY Purchase’s Music Conservatory.

She began releasing records when she was 16 years old with Not Gonna Fall Asleep Tonight.
2017’s The Space Between is her most intimate work. Self produced, most tracks are Limoges
alone, although a cello creeps in on the politically charged "Red Cigar". Meanwhile, "Your Skin
On My Sheets" is played with a full band which foreshadows the sound of her current band. As
Close As You Can Be Without Touching, on the other hand, features a 14-piece ensemble
including jazz rhythm sections and horns, and featuring chamber instruments arranged by her
collaborator, Zach Jackson. It’s been described by the Bangor Daily News as “something akin to a softer-edged Fiona Apple, or a harder-edged Sarah McLachlan — awfully, awfully pretty, but with a flair for the dramatic that creeps in on nearly every track”.’
