Handpicked by Dr. Dre to pen songs for his esteemed Compton album, rapper/singer/songwriter/producer J Pinder re-emerges with the release of his brand new EP Player Profile, a soulful fusion of jazzy hip hop tunes produced by 10.4 ROG. Best described as the perfect transition from Sade to Kendrick Lamar in a playlist, the project is the third installment in Pinder's new trilogy that takes an emotional journey through different aspects of time and the human process.
"'Player Profile' is the 3rd EP [this year] with 10.4 Rog. He and I linked up in Oakland and knocked out a bunch of music that we enjoyed ourselves. The inspiration came from life. Taking years away from the game, I bottled in a lot of energy." - J Pinder
The first two EPs in Pinder's trilogy, Any Day Now and Something You Wanted, were released earlier this year and follows Pinder's five-year hiatus after working in the music tech world. For a hip hop artist who started making music as a singer in the church choir at a young age, Pinder’s latest work is the long-awaited completion of a full artistic cycle, showcasing his singing ability to fans for the first time.
