This design was picked up by Nike after it won a sneaker competition held by Moscow-based sneaker site sneakerhead.ru, executed by sneaker customizer Maggi. Maggi has put their own twist on kicks like Kanye’s Yeezy 750 Boost for Adidas, as well as Air Yeezys 2. The original idea for this “Swimming Pool” upper was conceived bye Slava Gee, who goes by “lifestyle ninja”, which is a pretty badass job title, TBH, though we’re not sure if it actually means anything (outside of good taste in kicks!)
Nike decided to pick it up and do their own take on it. They’re a dope middle ground between those who want to make a loud color statement, and those who prefer a more low-key look.
The wavy all-over purple lightening/swimming pool aesthetic goes perfectly with the equally wavy sole (gotta love that VaporMax style) and the clean, all-white color contrast.
Not sure when these are going to be released, but we want our hands on them as soon as we find out a date. You can’t deny it’s a striking look that’s hard to forget, fan or not. Do you think they’re fire, or that a purple interpretation is too flamboyant for your taste?
