Congratulations on the release of your new video "Language of Love". Regarding the song itself, tell us about your creative process for it, and why you decide to shoot a video for it.

Thank you! Blessed to be doing this interview with you…

My creative process for “Language of Love” was pretty much the same as it is for every song I write.

I just get “that” feeling and I get in to a certain mood that just draws me to sit down in front of the keyboard and write! I usually create songs about personal and genuine experiences that either I have lived thru or someone I’ve come into contact in my life has. “LOL” as I like to call the song for short, was the first new song I wrote for my new project, produced by Grammy winner and multi-platinum mixer Bob Horn here in Los Angeles. Bob won a Latin Grammy in the past, so I think I was subconsciously inspired to write a sexy song with a little tinge of Santana mixed in!

Ahhh! So about the video! I just instinctively felt deep down in my soul that the feel of the song mixed in with what I had in mind for the visuals would just be a stunning match! We shot the desert scenes in 107 degree heat! And the cool club scenes at the famous El Cid club near Hollywood.

Q Burdette, the director, cinematographer and editor, did a stunning job creating this epic looking and feeling music video!

Mimi Makela, the co-director and choreographer and co-star, did a fabulous job and and really made the overall ease of the experience a fluid one for me!

Tell us about how you connected with Bob Horn, the Grammy winner and multi platinum mixer, who is producing your album.

I would say this was simply serendipity!

I put out to the Universe that I wanted to find an amazing, talented, Grammy Award winning and multi-platinum producer and mixer to help take my original songs to the highest level possible. I typed in Google searches that actually used that wording! Lol! And lo and behold Bob’s name and website was one of the one’s that came up!

I contacted several people all over the country, and was even thinking of going to Nashville to work with one of the producers whose name came up, but ultimately Bob won out hands down and I have been thrilled beyond words to be working with him ever since! He’s simply the most talented and nicest producer, musician, and mixer I have ever had the true pleasure to work with. He has worked with Michael Jackson, Usher, Kelly Clarkson, Macy Gray, BTS, Jonas Brothers, and Pentatonix among others, yet he always maintains his humble and funny persona!

What more can you tell us about your upcoming album? What is its title and do you have a release date in mind?

I spoke with Bob Horn at length about the whole releasing an album versus a series of singles idea, and he without hesitation said that we should drop a new single every couple of months. That plan will keep the old fans and potential new fans always ready and hungry for my new songs on a consistent and regular basis.

Otherwise, we would probably have to wait a whole year to track a whole new album. So, yeah! We already have about 10 singles produced and ready to mix, and I’m headed to the studio in about 10 days to track a new one called “Smile”!

How would you say that your late father is represented in your music, specifically your upcoming album?

This topic is near and dear to my heart… What started off as just a one song tribute to Mitch, my stepfather, and my Mom, has since grown into 11 songs! We are also on our second producer, mixer, and mastering person!

Bob has taken over the reigns as producer and mixer, and his top notch mastering guy Alex DeYoung is now on board.

I have a few upcoming songs that were heavily inspired by Mitch, including “Sailing”, which is a duet sung by me and Raquel Reigns. The song represents their undying strength in their relationship, told and sung from each of their perspectives… hence the duet. Mitch was a true lover of music and also sang, played guitar, harmonica and wrote songs. He actually was a main writer on the award winning TV show “In The Heat of the Night” starring Carroll O’Connor.
